An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estimator/buyer to join UK Fire & Security a growing fire and security business based in Coleshill. To reflect the growth we are looking for an Estimator who will play a key role in the pre-sales process, ensuring accurate, timely and competitive cost estimates for customer projects.

UK Fire Safety Systems provide end to end, fire and security solutions to commercial, public sector and industrial customers throughout the UK. We provide both service, reactive repairs and installation projects in both fire & security.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for the installation, maintenance, and servicing of Fire and Security systems.
  • Review project specifications, blueprints, and client requirements to determine the scope of work and associated costs and produce quotations from information supplied by clients, engineers, or personal site visits.
  • Obtain and analyse quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and quality standards.
  • Communicate with clients to clarify project requirements, address concerns, and provide updates on estimates and proposals.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, project changes, and cost variations. Provide regular reports to management on estimating activities and project status.
  • Provide technical and commercial assistance.
  • Protect the businesses commercial interests by ensuring quotations are produced with profitability in mind.

Skills and Experience required:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator in the Fire and Security industry or a related field.
  • Been an fire alarm engineer and completed install and service work across all systems
  • Familiarity with cost estimation software and techniques is essential.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills
  • Attention to detail, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Strong prioritisation skills and ability to manage own workload.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Looks for ways to improve and enhance existing systems and processes.
